Week 2

This week, we only worked for three days since 4th of July was a day off. On Monday, I finished drawing our conceptual design. We also created a spreadsheet for our bill of materials and inventory. We decided to begin printing out our model, so we started with the base, which will take about 4 hours to print. The printer had some issues in terms of the filament not being able to stick to the base of the 3D printer. On Tuesday, Victor worked on fixing the Prusa 3D printer and TAZ printer, while Daniel and I began preparing the presentation for next week. On Thursday, I revised the presentation that we will be presenting next week. We were also able to get both 3D printers to work so our production is going to be doubled. Today we printed out the top piece and the side piece. When we first printed out the side piece, the printer stopped printing out the 3rd layer. We were able to troubleshoot it and get the printer to work again, but we still do not know the exact cause. Both the top piece and side piece were a success.

This week, we presented our plan for the rest of the month on how we planned to accomplish our project. I contributed in taking measurements of the previous small scale design prototypes, and analyzing how to modify the previous designs. We recorded the measurements in a notebook, and decided on modifying the design to something of a gondola design.

Week 3

This week, we plan on finishing manufacturing and assembling. On Monday, we gave a presentation to the team on our progress. We were able to reprint the bottom piece, and successfully printed out the second side piece. So now we have 3 parts of the cabin printed out. On Tuesday, we successfully printed out the top piece. We also listened to the presentation for the Mexico team. On Wednesday, we tested the printing quality of the TAZ bot by printing a test part from online. We also updated our bill of materials spreadsheet. Most of our parts are in house, but we still do need to buy a few parts which in total costs about $26. On Thursday, the inserts came in so we were able to fit them into the top and bottom pieces, and assembled the cabin together. I'm surprised the cabin was able to fit together perfectly the first time that we printed everything.

Week 4

This week, we are completing manufacturing the cabin. On Monday, I looked at the STL files for our cabin parts to see if anything needs to be changed or modified. The other teams are starting to 3D print their parts, so Victor and I watched to make sure the pieces come out well. The Prusa printer was making it hard for us to remove the pieces once they were done because we applied glue on the printing bed to allow the filament to stick to the bed. It took us a while to remove the pieces because they were stuck to the printing bed. We decided it would be better if we did not apply any glue, but maybe if we could look into a flexible bed that the pieces can be peeled off of. We also got acrylic sheets and super glue for the windows on the cabin. I realized we couldn't cut the acrylic with a box cutter or the tools we had in the shop. On Tuesday, we cut the acrylic sheets with the dremel tool that Daniel got from home. We also started printing out our showcase model of the cabin. Cur
