Week 1

This week I focused on brainstorming potential interior designs. The interior designs have to be able to fit 4-6 people. I focused on implementing the open concept so that traveling can be more luxurious, and comfortable. In addition, our team decided we could use foldable seating so that we could have space to possibly fit two bikes per pod car (Figure1). Victor and I decided to prototype by forming a cardboard diorama (Figure2). I also drew several sketches of what the pod car could potentially look like, as well as making a digital sketch using SketchUp (Figure3). We all researched requirements for seating and space for a mass transit bus so that our pod car can be comfortable for people to travel in. Ben, Victor, and I took measurements of the full scale model of the pod car to correctly model the small scale pod car. We made adjustments to the general shape of the car, now being hexagonal to represent a gondola. Victor tested the 3D printer to see how parts will be produced so we

Orientation Week 3

This week, we presented our plan for the rest of the month on how we planned to accomplish our project. I contributed in taking measurements of the previous small scale design prototypes, and analyzing how to modify the previous designs. We recorded the measurements in a notebook, and decided on modifying the design to something of a gondola design.

Orientation Week 2

The main purpose of the meeting this week was to get familiar with SolidWorks and machining for the rest of the project. I spent most of the meeting CADing a LEGO brick which allowed me to discover new tools and features on SolidWorks. I was also introduced to how presentations will be outlined, and how to deliver our message to the audience. My team and I discussed about our lightning talk presentation, brainstorming how we want our presentation to be.

Hi everyone, I'm Arushi Haniyur, an upcoming senior in Cupertino High School, graduating June 2019. I am planning to pursue Mechanical Engineering. I primarily enjoy being part of Cupertino High's FIRST Robotics Team since freshman year. I continue to enjoy building LEGOs, building furniture at home, and fixing my cars. I want to work on automated transit networks to use my experiences in designing and manufacturing, as well as gaining experience in working with teams.
